We Continue to Prepare for Growth Despite COVID-19
As companies struggle to stay in business during these challenging times, we at Son-Aero are fortunate enough to be investing in new technologies, adding more members to our team, and preparing for growth in all areas of our manufacturing business.
Our strategy for the remainder of 2020 and into 2021 is to be well-prepared with capacity in production and the right team on board to handle the influx of work in the upcoming months.
While the aerospace industry is feeling the impact of the Boeing 737 Max problems throughout the supply chain, we are still focused on a team approach. The slowdown in production has hurt both small and large suppliers of aerospace parts and components. The uncertainty for employees, wondering if they can support their families, creates an unstable environment to work in. However, the environment here at Son-Aero different than most companies today. We have striven to create a work environment that encompasses all of us as one team, we win as a team and we solve the opportunities as a team.
To add capabilities to our portfolio we invested in a new rubber compounding laboratory with testing capabilities that meet the toughest requirements. Having the ability to compound rubber and silicone are opening new business opportunities with Tier 1 aerospace and defense companies. The quality and reliability of having our own lab mixing compounds helps eliminate the risk of relying on suppliers to have material available to meet our customers’ demands. Our Technical Manager who is developing and compounding our material has over 40 years of experience in the rubber industry. His expertise ensures our quality products meet and exceed customer specifications.
The world of CNC machining is evolving year after year and we recently determined that we needed to update and upgrade our department. We procured two new machines most recently, including a 4-axis DOOSAN NHP400 horizontal mill with a pallet system and a DVF 5000 5-axis mill with an 8-pallet changer system. These machines will take our machining capabilities to the next level and provides for more capacity to serve our customers’ increased needs.
With a continuous commitment to our values, our people, and our customers, we have maintained our position in the marketplace which has given us a perfect platform to grow in all areas within the aerospace and defense manufacturing industries.
