New Equipment Additions to Our Aerospace Machining Department
OMAX JetMachining Center
Son-Aero recently purchased an OMAX MAXIEM 2040 JetMachining Center equipped with a 5-axis cutting head. The 2 meter wide by 4.2 meter long (6.5 feet by 13.8 feet) cutting area can handle all of Son-Aero’s sheet metal materials and will improve the efficiency of our CNC department.
The waterjet center supports increased efficiency in our Elastomer Cell by quickly cutting through a wide range of materials and thicknesses from fabric to metal, to composite resin reinforced seals as well as gasket sheeting.
Son-Aero looks forward to utilizing the new waterjet to meet our customers’ defense and aerospace machining needs.
DOOSAN Turning Center
Last year the Son-Aero machining department also acquired a new DOOSAN Lynx 2100LSY Turning Center as a part of the over $500,000 in equipment investments made in 2019. This 3-axis machine performs drilling, grooving, radial cuts, and surface milling with ease, maximizing our potential to produce quality-assured parts more quickly.
This sharp new machine handles a maximum turn length of 20” (510mm) and a diameter of 11.8 inches (300 mm) producing excellent accuracy in parts very quickly. It speeds up turning time as its steady servo-driven turret holds up to 12 tools and a roller-type linear guideway system.
Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll update our site with the more of the upgrades and expansions we’ll be carrying out in many departments in 2020.
